The above pictures were taken from the top of Giant Head Mountain just south of Summerland. You have a 360° panorama view of the Okanagan Valley. This trip is about 1 1/2 hours from Coral Beach House B&B

Grapes have been grown in the Okanagan since 1859, but commercially only since the 1920's. Here is a wine history link. Okanagan wines are known for their high quality since the introduction of the VQA quality label. View near Gray Monk Winery, Okanagan Centre
Fall outing 1 1/2 hours away to the Adams River salmon run. In early October thousands of visitors watch how female salmon deposit their eggs in stone benches (middle above). A bear had helped us see the eggs (image left above). Visitors come from as far as Japan.
The rich harvest at a local farm market in Vernon (30 minutes from Coral Beach House).

Male deer arrive in late spring at our shore after having crossed the lake (a 3 kilometer or 1.86 mile swim). They like our roses and other garden plants as well (click on pictures).
With spring cayakers also arrive. They like to visit Ellison Provincial Park just north of us.

Winter in the Okanagan is peaceful, but far from boring. It is a time to play in the snow or relax in the hottub. Enjoy winter sports, visit wineries, go skiing or snowboarding in the nearby mountains (Silver Star, Big White, Crystal Mountain and Apex Alpine).
